PET TRAVEL

EU Pet Passport

The EU Pet Passport is a booklet containing details of an individual animal. This includes an identification number and proof of a valid vaccination against the rabies virus. It is valid for the lifetime of the pet. To qualify for an EU Pet Passport, the animal must have been micro-chipped and vaccinated against rabies with a confirmed blood test.

Rabies/Flea/Ticks/Worms

Rabies is the only required vaccination and the animal can enter Cyprus between 30 days and up to one year. Flea, tick and worming treatments must be administered 24-48hrs before travel commences and should be noted on the Pet Passport by an authorised vet.

Notifying the Cypriot Authorities

The Cyprus Veterinary Services should be notified at least 48hrs before the arrival of the animal.

Travel crates and cages

Crates and cages must confirm to IATA (International Air Travel Assocation) standards. Click here for further information.

Pet arrival in Cyprus

On arrival, the animal and the owner will be met by the Veterinary Officer or a Customs Officer who will inspect the animal and the EU Pet Passport
or health certificate.  If the animal arrives with a valid EU Pet Passport and meets all the requirements for entry, no fees will be payable. If the animal
does not have an EU Pet Passport, payment will be required immediately. Fees will vary dependent on time of arrival. Pets not adhering to all of the requirements will be subject to six months in quarantine. There are fees for placing an animal in quarantine. Click here for authorised pet carriers.
