I have just read a thread on Franks site OMG this is the saddest thing I have heard. A british resident here in CY has left the island and left their-- 4- yes -4 Labrador dogs locked in the house. They survived by drinking water from the loo the owner did leave food . Its reported they could have been there for up to 2 weeks when a neighbour heard them barking and phoned the police. The dogs are in good health but could have died if not for the neighbour. My blood boil at scum like that. I hope who ever they are can be found and made to pay one way or another for these dogs suffering. Can you imagine what they must have coped the poor things. Marj

That is a terrible story, I hate trash like that. Maureen and I love all dogs but especially Labs, I hope they are all OK now.
Cheers
John

Here, here.
On another note anyone want an Old English Sheepdog or two? Apparently the couple has split up, wife gone back to UK and hubby can't cope. Full pedigree approximately 3 years old.

Are you shouting at me Marj - they are already three years old. Don't know the lifespan of an Old English. Had two once (at different times), the puppy ate its way out a solid wooden front door if left in the house and if left in the garden through the back door. Also rehomed an older one but unfortunately he really laid into my Nicky and I could not take the chance of anything seriously happening - although 20 stitches in his face was serious enough.

OMG Trish how awful. WE have had OES for the last 30 yrs and not one had a bad streak in them --I think it depends on the breeding and making sure the breed line is a good one but you cant be sure . The life span is between 9 and 13 Min is 11 this year but still like a young dog playing with his soft toys. I hope all dogs get a loving home soon. Marj

I will explain a bit more of what had happened. He was five years old and fed on Pedigree Chum which did not agree with him, thin as a rake and making a mess so had always had his coat clipped winter and summer. I changed him to tripe, within three months he was a good healthy dog with a beautiful coat - trouble was he was not used to not seeing. We had all been playing with him when I said to Nicky enough now. At that Nicky started to move away, but the dog did not realise and snapped, ripping under his eye so that I could see the cheekbone, plus his jaw line. Must admit I do blame me for not paying enough attention. Lucky enough the doctor at the hospital really sewed him up neatly so the scar is minimal. Trouble was afterwards as I felt I was to blame I gave the dog another chance, but Nicky could not walk past the dog without him growling or snapping and bit him one more time on the hand. Enough was enough.

I take it you are talking about the abandoned dogs Mark.
We are in the EU and these culprits should be brought to justice in the UK. I hope they find them.
