Ah the old Toon are the Spurs bogey team rubbish, how predictable :sleepy :sleepy :sleepy

Fingers crossed we will all be in the same league next season then we can have a mini league between the 3 of us, so at least Spurs will finish top of one league wont they

Cheers

But you're only 4th until Manc Al Citey play their game in hand, then you'll be 3 point behind them in 5th

I wonder what you'll feel like if you're pipped at the post yet again for 4th places, we'll have to change your team name to 'the almost rans' :chin

Just think Boogs, you could be that team who can never get into the top 4 & always have to settle for 5th place behind the big clubs

I have copied your Wikepedia entry titled Glory Days. Here it is.
The Glory Years
During the 1950s, Newcastle won the FA Cup trophy on three occasions within a five year period. In 1951 they defeated Blackpool 2–0, a year later Arsenal were beaten 1–0 and in 1955 they defeated Manchester City 3–1. Newcastle had gained a high profile, and so had their players; 'Wor Jackie' Milburn and Bobby 'Dazzler' Mitchell in particular. Other players of this time were Frank Brennan (like Mitchell a Scot), Ivor Broadis, Len White and Welshman Ivor Allchurch.

The old war horse Joe Harvey, who had captained the team to much of their post-war success, returned to revitalise Newcastle. He teamed up with Stan Seymour to rebuild them and they won the Second Division Champions in 1965. Newcastle then became very much an unpredictable and inconsistent team, always capable of defeating the best, but never quite realising their potential.

Harvey's team qualified for Europe for the first time in 1968 and surprised many the following year by winning the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, (which was the forerunner of the Europa League), beating Sporting Lisbon, Feyenoord, Real Zaragoza and Rangers along the way, before triumphing over two legs against Hungary's Újpest in the final. Newcastle possessed a reliable team and Newcastle's tradition of fielding a popular goalscorer at number 9 continued, as Welshman Wyn Davies was prominent.[6]

In the years that followed European success, Harvey brought in a string of talented entertainers who thrilled the Newcastle crowd. Players such as Jimmy Smith, Tony Green, Terry Hibbitt and in particular striker Malcolm Macdonald all became favorites among the supporters. Nicknamed 'Supermac', Malcolm Macdonald was one of Newcastle's most popular figures and is still held in high regard by supporters to this day. He was an impressive goal scorer, which led United's attack to Wembley twice, in 1974 and 1976, against Liverpool in the FA Cup and Manchester City in the League Cup, but on each occasion Newcastle failed to bring the trophy back to Tyneside. A small consolation was back to back triumphs in the Texaco Cup in 1974 and 1975.

It's 4 paragraphs long. Most of the names mentioned are now dead.
Bate Borisov have also played in the Champions League. More recently than you. At least they deserved to be there. They didn't get in through the back door. They were champions of their country.
Does this mean we should tow down to them ?
Give it up Pete, it's pathetic.
Gary :Alright

Bloody hell, even when you last won anything ( 1967 !) you got in through the back door. You finished 10th that season yet still qualified !
Yes Pete, it's 43 years since you won anything, now shut up  .

Actually muppet, its 40 years, we won the Fair Cup is 69 & we finished 9th, so if you're gonna whinge about something, make sure you get your facts right

Btw, in that same year you finished 17th & you finished with 34pts, probably as many as you'll get this season too  the season after, you finished 21st & were relegated, doesn't that sound familiar

Either way it's over 40 years.
Yes that's 40 years,
Stop harping on about the past. Your past is past it's sell by date.
Gary
Over 40 years you'd think he would shut up about it wouldn't you ?

Boogs, just watched the Spurs game and thoroughlly enjoyed it. I know Blackburn had a great goal chalked off but the ref who was very poor should have given Bale a pen.
What has happened to Gareth Bale ? I have praised him on here before, but I must say he must be the best left back in the country.
I'd like to know what has made him get his act together.
Wish he was ours........ well done Spurs.

How come Pete, you have started to call me names ?
I thought you were above that. You always spat your dummy out when I did it to you.
I don't have to tell you when we last won something as it is not me who harps on about finishing 4 or 5 places behind the leaders in the year 19 oh blonk, it's you.
Haway man you couldn't even beat the Smoggies yesterday  You couldn't even beat Celtic reserves
Would love to stay and chat some more but the taxi has just pulled up to take me to the game.
Have a nice day,
Gary

Boys

Not going to get drawn into your little spat this time, I think if we were all to look back on who won what and when we all know Spurs would win on all accounts, so there.

Bale is probably the best Spurs player this season, seems he may have matured at last. For the past 3 or 4 games he has been playing more in midfiled as most of our midfield is injured at the moment and his pace has been a big factor in the goals he has helped create. We dont even seem to have missed Lennon as much as we thought we would.

Still got a hard run in to the end of the season but it we keep winning and playing like we have recently then we still have a chance of 4th.

Cheers

John

Sir Arry of the Lane started with Pav and Crouch up front and then brought Gudjohnsen on when Pav got injured. I think Crouch may have 18 or 19 goals so far so it is still a close thing with less than 2 months to go.

Until Man City won today it had been a very good weekend for us. Villa drew, Liverpool got beat and Everton stayed 10 points behind us. City are 2 points behind us now with a game in hand.

Cheers

John

Boogs, have you been on the sherry or is it just your age ?
Crouch has no where near that total so stop messing about and tell me how many he's got.
Note to Pete.

I suspect you know fine well what I am on about and are siding with your mate, the rich one, you know, the one who can afford Caribbean cruises and pays for outdoor balconies and wonders at how the good folk of Redcar who have nothing, stay happy !
Yes, that's him, Boogs.
Gary
PS Crouch doesn't even feature in this list !

Rich, Moi, how ungentlemanly of you to talk about money it is considered vulgar in the circles I frequent.

I believe Mr Crouch is stuck on 10 and has been for ages. I will check the total properly later and confirm the number.

I cannot believe I am about to say this but there is a first for everything, Pete is right, I have no money, she who must be obeyed has it all ;) ;)

Cheers

I see the plank got another goal at the weekend.
It'll be interesting to see how this Satda's game goes. I am hearing Defoe is fit again.
I am quite optimistic but have to say we missed Hutton's runs yesterday and, of course, he will be ineligable for the Spurs game.
Will Bent think he has a point to prove to Harry ? What about Campbell ? What about Jones, will he be wanting to impress Harry.
I think Jones will be off in the summer, maybe to Spurs, who knows ?
Can we cope with Bale ? not if Bardsley is playing !
Any thoughts Boogs ?
Gary

I am a naturally pesimistic person where Spurs are concerned so dont want to think too much about how we may or may not do. All I will say is that our recent run is one of the best we have had for ages and that should be good enough for us to do well in the game.

I think Bent will really be up for it which is worrying for us, I hope the Liverpool game does affect Sunderland adversely as you were well and truely beaten but this could just be the end of our good run. After this we have the Semi Final, Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea one after the other so it is the start of a crucial run for us, just hope Harry keeps the momentum going.

I now have my ticket for Saturday so I will be there to see what happens, just hope I am not a jinx.

Cheers

John

This story tells me two things.
Spurs fans are up themselves.
Spurs fans are scared of Dareen Bent.
The author kind of contradicts himself as he goes along. I hope this attitude isn't typical of a Spurs fan.

In general the folk who post on these forums will always big up their own club at the expense of the oppositon and their players. We both know Bent will be up for this game and will be trying his best to pay Arry back, especially after his comment about his wife being able to do better.

I am sure this is just friendly banter aimed at winding the Sunderland suporters up and nothing more.

Cheers

John
